"A" for Asus netbook
This Asus Eee 1018P-PU27 is an amazing 10.1" netbook. As a grad student in global health, I use this Asus 1018P for class notes. As a journalist I use it for interview notes, and for viewing short news videos. On-the-go internet browsing is a breeze. This netbook is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Starter and Microsoft Office Starter, which I immediately and easily upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and Microsoft Office Professional. Spend the $24 and upgrade to 2 GB RAM memory (it comes with 1 GB.) This Asus model is significantly faster than others with its N550 dual-core processor; the two USB 3.0 ports and Bluetooth 3.0 add to its speed and efficiency, not to mention the optimized 10 hours of battery life. I get 8, good enough.Consumer Reports rates the Asus #1 for 10" netbooks (Amazon offers a newer model, which I purchased). At this writing the Asus 1018P has received 18 international awards. I spent considerable time researching and testing netbooks of all...

Perfect netbook with some upgrades
I purchased this netbook for my everyday use. (I carry it everywhere) I spent hours and hours reading thousands of reviews, specs, etc and finaly decided to go with Asus 1018p.The things that made me hesitate are:1. 1018p does not have HDMI output. There were some models with new motherboard that are capable of faster graphic processing. They claim that it can be used to play some graphic intense games. But my main use was not for video paying or gaming. I have my other computer for that and netbook has only 10 inch screen! All I needed was 420 resolution.2. No dedicated media control. My old Dell notebook has dedicated play, stop, next, prev botton and it is so convinient to have them. Lets say you are writing someting using Words or just browsing internet while your music is playing and you want to change music. If you don't have dedicated media button then you have to find right media screen and change music then go back to the page...

Very nice
This is a very nice netbook! First the good:Fastest and thinnest netbook I've used. It can multitask quite well. Videos play very smoothly, boots up very quickly. I use it for programming on the go and it can handle big IDEs and large office programs like netbeans and openoffice without ever hanging. I'm glad to have usb3.0, it is extremely fast and great for copying large files from here to my desktop. Haven't had the opportunity to take advantage of the wireless N or bluetooth 3.0, but I'm sure they are fast as well. I love that I get 8 hours of battery life yet the battery doesn't stick out of the bottom like most other netbooks. It is so light and thin, I barely notice it in my backpack. I can type just as easily on this laptop than any 15 inch model (as long as I don't need a 10-key). The screen looks great, I would certainly categorise it as a matte screen. I only booted into Windows twice before I wiped the hard drive and installed linux, but there didn't seem...
